VIDEO: 1964 Toyota FJ-45

When we attended the ‘Back to the Beach’ car show, we didn’t quite know what to expect. Held in the middle of winter and indoors at a local Toyota dealership, we ended up more than pleased with the collection of vintage iron parked at the event.

Not only did we find ultra-cool cruisers and classics but we stumbled upon a stately and trail-ready 1964 Toyota FJ-45, owned by the store’s general manager, Gary Vicari.

The enthusiast found the pickup several years ago out west and has since had a frame-off restoration conducted on the off-road hauler. Nothing was left untouched as the entire vehicle was stripped to the bare frame before being put back together.

Since it’s been finished,  Gary has proudly kept the four-wheeled treasure up front in the showroom, reminding customers of the rough and ready origins of their modern machines.

Watch our video to see this vintage Toyota truck up close and hear Gary detail the revamp and driving experience.
