A while back, we made a stop off the beaten trail to scope out a special Pontiac. This weathered and worn 1968 Chevrolet Camaro wasn’t parked too far away so we swung our eager eyes around to check it out. A quick once over and it appears the classic Chevy was in decent shape with a sound body, packing some marginal surface rust on the hood and rear decklid. A sparse info sheet on the dash informed us the car’s previous owner claimed a 327ci, small block V8 is underhood, but the engine size has yet to be verified. Supposedly, it does run and ‘runs good’. We also learned that an automatic transmission is in the car now but it once had a four speed and that the third pedal was still mounted in the driver’s footwell. Other interesting details include SS badging and grill.
The bow tie muscle machine had all the makings of a fine driver or full-blown restoration project and packed an asking price of $11,000. Tell us what you would, or wouldn’t, do with this rolling Detroit icon.
